BIO

Artist Beth Van Hoesen was born in Boise, Idaho in 1926. She received an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, and studied at the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute), Ecole de Beaux Arts de Fontainebleau, and privately in Paris and Mexico.

Known for her whimsical portraits of animals, Van Hoesen’s subject matter also includes landscapes and still lifes.

Van Hoesen has had numerous exhibitions in the United States and is represented in major collections worldwide. Her work has been the subject of several books including Works On Paper, A Collection of Wonderful Things, and Wonderful Things.
