BIO

Gail Packer was a well-known Sonoma County artist. She quietly passed away on April 6, 2008. She is greatly missed.

Parker’s limited color aquatint etchings were inspired by her varied interests in the middle ages, the decorative arts, ancient civilizations, and her environment in California. The image and color of each etching was produced from running multiple copper plates through the printing press. She created etchings of the Normandy region of France where Claude Monet lived and worked, the wine country of Northern California, the coast of Big Sur, and a series of months of the year. Parker used fine detail to illustrate her subject matter, incorporating painting techniques with intaglio printing.

A nationally recognized artist, Packer’s etchings are showcased in many private and corporate collections. Her final print depicted Rocky Point in Big Sur.

Parker's etchings are framed in hand painted folk art frames created by artist Hildy Henry.
