William Hook - William Hook William Hook paints with a broad brush and an enthusiasm for creating minimalist works. Along with his brush work, Hook's knowledge and use of color is what distinguishes his style. Hook's extensive art education began at the Kansas City Art Institute. He later attended the University of New Mexico (BFA); University Italiana Per Straniere, Perugia, Italy; and the Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles (MFA). His paintings are included in museum, corporate, and private collections worldwide. Hook is a "master artist" member of Artists of America, a nationally recognized annual exhibit of contemporary representational art. Hook has been featured in several art publications and books, including Leading the West by Donald J. Hagerty. Published in 1997, the book features a select 100 contemporary painters and sculptors. Most recently, Hook has been invited to make a painting for the Forbes Collection to be exhibited in New York and San Francisco in Spring 2000. William makes his images from paintings that act as studies for his printed work. "I feel that the use of transparent inks makes my serigraphs truly hand crafted and representive of my painting style." "The work of Gustauve Baumann has had an obvious influence on the way I approach print making. Serigraphy is similar to the wood block medium when fewer inks are employed."
