William Hook - William Hook
William Hook studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and University Italiana per Straniere in Perguia before earning a BFA at the University of New Mexico. He received his MFA from Art Center College of Design.
Hook’s contemporary paintings serve as studies for his serigraphs. Known for his plein air paintings of the California landscape, he also portrays Stonington and Monhegan Island in Maine. Hook’s award winning work is found in museum, corporate, and private collections worldwide. He is a "master artist" member of Artists of America, a nationally recognized annual exhibit of contemporary representational art. Hook has been featured in several art publications and books, including Leading the West by Donald J. Hagerty.
I feel that the use of transparent inks makes my serigraphs truly hand crafted and representative of my painting style. The work of Gustauve Baumann has had an obvious influence on the way I approach printmaking. Serigraphy is similar to the wood block medium when fewer inks are employed.
